You will visit the ‘Domaine des Aubineaux’, a typical manor house whose stately home was built in 1872. It is no longer inhabited, but is an important part of the island’s colonial rule and history.

In the house you will see antique furniture, some from the 17th century, and a collection of many photos from times gone by. Many of them show colonial houses that have long since been destroyed and typical life during that era.

In the spacious gardens there are tall camphor trees as well as many tropical plants and palm trees. Next to the old stables is a distillery where essential oil is produced.
The owners of this domain are still active in the tea trade today and our next stop will take you to the Bois Cheri tea plantation. It is the largest on the island and after a tour of the tea museum we will of course also show you how tea is made in the factory.

Afterwards you can taste the variety of teas during a tea tasting.
Please note that the tea factory may not produce every day depending on the season.

A visit to the beautiful colonial house of St. Aubin, built in 1819, concludes the day. St. Aubin is best known for its vanilla and rum distillery. We will of course show you how both are made and a small sample of the different types of rum is also planned.
